The Date, My Wingman, And I Knocked A Bar Stool Over.

LilliesIt has been a long, and I do mean a very long time, since a man has charmed my socks off.  But last night?  Yeah, I was charmed.  Utterly charmed by DJBlueEyes.

He showed up at my house right on time, and when I answered the door I smiled at him.  He grinned back and held up not one, but two bouquets of flowers.  I blinked in surprise as he came in, and smiled a lot because I may have mentioned this before, but I’m a sucker for flowers!  He handed me the most beautiful bouquet of Lilies, (ShaNaNa did you read that?) and I immediately Oooooooooo’ed in delight.  I love Lilies.  I still was a bit unsure why he had another bouquet of flowers, but regardless, I didn’t ask and proceeded to smile and say thank you for my flowers.  He then handed me the other  bouquet and said, “These are for Emilee.” I looked down to see bright colored carnations covered in sparkely glitter, surrounded by baby’s breath.

He brought my daughter, who he has never met, flowers.  With glitter on them.

I looked up and swear, for the first time in my life, had Blank Face.  I hugged him immediately and tried as hard as I knew how to say thank you, because I don’t know that anyone has ever been so … thoughtful.  I’m a package deal, always will be.  And on our first date, he acknowledged that.  He completely and utterly acknowledged that … and by doing so, left me moon struck.

We left for a dinner after I arranged all of the flowers in some vases, and had a great meal at an Italian place near my house.  I also had two of the most fabulous martini’s I’ve ever drank!  Wow they were PERFECT.  Just a bit small, but hell, I’m not gonna complain.  My martini glasses at home are the size of fishbowls so ya know …

During dinner, we talked and had another great conversation.  He knowing my Wingman was flying in that day, asked if he had arrived safely.  I smiled and said, let me check my phone, I hadn’t heard from him yet.  Sure enough, there’s a text from Wingman.  Did we want to meet for a drink?  I wasn’t sure it was so cool to do that on our first date, but they were going to the Irish pub next door to the restaurant, and I mentioned it to DJBlueEyes, who was all for going to have a drink with my Wingman.  I was charmed yet again.  And thankful, I haven’t seen Wingman in over a year, I was anxious to see him!

Drinks and fun times were had by all.  I, in typical QT fashion, did manage to knock over a very large bar stool by leaning a bit too forward in it, and was pretty much mortified when it fell down making a loud crash.  Wingman loudly said, “You hardly spilled your beer!” and I felt a bit better by my God, really?  On the first date?  Some man stranger walking by picked it up for me and looked at me like “Drunk Girl.”  DAMMIT.

Yes, it was a good date.  We are seeing each other tonight if we can make it happen (he’s on air tonight) … and if not, well, he’s already asked me out for next weekend.  I have good feelings about this one friends, so send me some positive JUJU!!
