Things It’s Good To Want

July 31, 2009

wonder“It’s good to want things,” she said as she walked away.  Ten points for anyone that can tell me what movie that’s from!

It is good to want things, so I thought I’d give you a few that I think are important to remember.

It’s good to want …

  • Hope
  • Love
  • Beer
  • Coffee (of course)
  • Awesome coffee makers (heh)
  • Martini Glasses that are cool
  • Him or her to want you
  • Trust
  • Happiness and health
  • Children
  • Happiness and health for your children
  • Friendship of the true kind
  • Gay marriage to be legal

And most importantly, sometimes it’s really good to want what you already have.

Happy Weekend folks!  Feel free to add to my list!

Issues … of the Coffee Sort

July 30, 2009

I think in older posts, I’ve made mention of my love for coffee. I mean, in all honesty, it’s almost as important to me as bacon.  And Beer.  And Martini’s.  Actually, yeah, it IS that important.  If you remember, I actually purchased a coffee pot and had it delivered to Irishman’s house over Christmas because he didn’t have one.  Imagine, not having a coffee pot in your house?!  PFFFFFTTTTT.

Last night, I took another coffee maker to the basement.  As I was storing it away, I looked around only to realize this is my FOURTH coffee maker in the basement.  Fourth.  I sort of blinked and looked around some more.  Then I counted three coffee grinders I have stored down there too.

So okay maybe  I have issues of the coffee sort.  BUT … here is the reason I took that other coffee maker to the basement:

Keurig_eliteOh my goodness, am I excited. This is the coffee maker I’ve been wanting forever!  The best part of this coffee maker?  The pods!  I am in love with the coffee pods.  Here is how they work …

The-K-Cup-MagicYES IT IS MAGIC Keurig, Thank you!!

So my whole point of this is that I have a love for coffee.  And too many coffee makers.  And then last night I went online and ordered 100 more pods of my favorite flavor, even though I already have 80 of a different kind.  Hmmm …

After all was said and done and I was walking around smiling because of my coffee, I realized something.  I don’t think people have four different coffee makers.  Okay okay OKAY technically well, five.  And so many grinders.  And one coffee maker even had the grinder built into it.  I wasn’t sure though, so I picked up my phone and texted Make Out Guy.

“Okay I have five coffee makers.  And I just ordered 100 more pods for my new coffee maker, even though I already have 80.  Oh and I have three grinders.  I think I have coffee issues.”

He texted back:

“Admitting you have a problem is the first step.  Now tell me more about the 100 pods, what flavor?”

I smiled, I love me some Make Out Guy!   Oh, and coffee of course.

QTMama’s Mama

July 29, 2009

Loving my mother is an easy thing to do. She is just there for me, no matter what. Whenever I’ve needed her. There are always questions about choices I’ve made or not made, but she’s just … there. Always. And of course, even when I’m stupid beyond belief.  For example …

Friends, I’m 36 years old.  If you read my blog you know I’m no stranger to alcohol.  I can out drink many people and still be sober.  It’s quite odd.  I digress.  So, let me put it this way …

I’m 36 years old and still call my mom for a ride home because I’m too drunk to drive.

I can tell you endless stories of ShaNaNa and I calling my mom at 2 something in the morning, barely able to speak let alone figure out where I am for her to come get us.  Okay maybe not endless stories, but many.  One in particular that’s my absolute favorite …

The Things I Can Talk Myself Into

July 28, 2009

be-quietI have to be honest and say that I’ve not been so honest with you all.  I’ve been keeping a secret, a sort of big one.  It’s going to stay that way (at least for now, sorry loves), but hindsight being the bitch that she is?  I am amazed at the absolute, what’s the word here … crap, no … craziness, no … foolishness, yes, but I need a better word … ah!

BULLSHIT

I am simply amazed at the utter BULLSHIT I can talk myself into believing.  And when hindsight rears her ugly head and gives me the good solid swift kick in the ass I need?  I sit back and wonder, WTF QT.  Pull your head out of your rectum.  You deserve so much more than this, and having to ask for it from him, time and again? Is more like pressing the “PUSH HERE TO MAKE ME MORE STUBBORN” button he’s got connected to his forehead.

The Weekend in Text Messages

July 27, 2009

lg-venus-black-pink-cell-phone-verizon2This past weekend brought some fun moments, especially because Jenn was in town, and we drank enough Saturday night to make my liver complain (not that it ever does though).  And yes, the weekend did include Make Out Guy, in person and in text messages. WOO HOOO!

Here is an example of my newly formed … er, friendship with Make Out Guy:

Make-Out-Guy: Hello Sunshine, how is your day?

QT: Do you like garlic?

Make-Out-Guy: I love garlic.

QT: Do you like bacon?

Make-Out-Guy: I love bacon even more than garlic, if that’s possible.

QT: I like you more and more everyday!

Make-Out-Guy: That’s the plan babe.  That’s the plan.  ;)

And a damn fine plan if you ask me, darlin, a damn fine plan.

And here is an example of my not so newly formed friendship with Random Esquire:

RE: Hey!  What’s your favorite pet name?

QT: T-Bone

**Insert QT laughing hysterically as she pushes send on her phone**

RE: What?!  FOR YOU?

QT: No, but I think it’s fantastic that I just made MYSELF laugh my ass off just now.  What’s yours?

RE: Baby.  I love Baby.

QT: I like baby too.

RE: I wonder why though. I mean for me, it’s obvious. I just want to be like a baby and fall asleep with a nipple in my mouth. But you? I have no idea why you do.

QT: Uhh okay yeah.  Yep, I’m pretty sure it’s for different reasons.  You’ve issues Cookie, seriously.

RE: I love that I”m getting psychoanalyzed by someone named T-Bone.

QT: You love T-Bone, admit it.

And now I’m left wondering, I wonder what Make Out Guy would think if I called him T-Bone as a term of endearment.  I’m sort of really itching to try it.  *giggle*

How Much Is Too Much?

July 24, 2009

In the beginning of a new …

STOP.  Stop right here!

I won’t use the word relationship for fear of me running into the nearest loony bin and admitting myself.  We all know I’ve been shy of the R Word since Dick made his spry departure from my life.  (Did you think I hadn’t noticed that?  Hmmm?)

*Clearing Throat* Allow me to start again please.

When you first start to date someone…

MUCH BETTER

… I have to wonder, how much is too much?  I’m talking phone calls, texts, emails, making plans to see each other, any other way of communication possible.  Messenger birds? DHL? UPS? Notes in a bottle? *giggle*

See cuz,

*QT twirling toe on ground*

Something has dawned on me.  When you dig the guy?  Really find yourself liking him?

There is no such thing as too much.

Oh.
My.

The Make Out Guy

July 23, 2009

lipsWell, being at the top of WordPress.com home page yesterday was crazy!  My blog stats went through the roof!  So thank you WordPress.  That was pretty damn shocking as well as very cool.

So to answer some questions regarding Make Out Guy … I was standing in line waiting to get lunch when I notice a man, actually, noticing me.   I looked over, saw him looking, smiled and looked away.  As I was leaving, I looked again, to see him staring at me.  And then it sort of hit me.

Hey, I thought, that guys looks really familiar!

So I look harder, if that’s possible and at this point I was sort of just staring.  Yet so was he.  So he gets up, walks over and says,

Once Upon A Time

July 22, 2009

classical_kissAlright girls and boys, it’s time for story.  Get settled in with a martini, beer or a coffee …

Once upon a time, a young college freshman named QT went to see her very best friend named Wingman at his college for the weekend.  Actually, she drove to pick him up and then Wingman and QT drove to yet another college to see our … clan, for lack of a better word.  Our clan, our group, our peeps.  We promptly got drunk upon arriving and in between telling Wingman how much I loved him, playing the Viking drinking game, telling Wingman how much I love him and telling him how he was my very best friend ever, QT noticed a boy that had joined the clan, a new boy.  The new boy was tall and a tad skinny for her taste, but cute nonetheless.  And from that night on, the new boy became the Make Out Boy.  Whenever, and I do mean whenever he and I saw each other, we made out.  Lots.  For long amounts of time.  We never took it further, hell, we barely even talked in between bouts of making out.   It would always go something like this …

That’s What You Get For Waking Up in Vegas …

July 16, 2009

I have to say, every time I hear this song by Katy Perry, I totally think of my Irishman …

So when my phone rang this morning, just about the same time my alarm was going off, which is a radio alarm of course, this song was playing.  I look over to see one Irishman calling me, and had to laugh.

I miss him. I miss watching him sing from the audience, I miss his awesome accent but most of all I miss just talking to him everyday.

And he made my morning by calling, drunk as he was.  He was at “our bar” as we call it, just a place we hang out after his show is over.  Good atmosphere, even better food and it’s a 24 hour bar.  What else could we ask for?  Other than to live in the same state.  Anyhoo, there he was, thinking of me and calling.  He told me he was “peckish”, which made us both laugh …
