In a spur of the moment decision, I sent Random Esquire these flowers:
If you’re wondering why, well, RE thinks it’s cuz of this and that. Admittedly, these are two very good reasons. But it’s also cuz RE is the best dude ever. And sunflowers, in this QTMama’s opinion, are very manly flowers. Wouldn’t you agree? Oh, and anything that can make RE turn crimson? Is worth every penny in my book.
I was reading Depot Dad, a blog of a single (and very handsome) daddy that I’ve come to admire. He wrote this post, in which he says “So what am I reading? I’m reading the same thing you are reading right now, single parent blogs. I’m hooked and I never would have guessed it a year ago. I never even visited a blog a year ago.” This made me smile, because he and I are in the same boat there. My first visit to a blog was after the big break up with Dick, in whereas I was searching the Internet for advice and stumbled upon Ms. Single Mama’s blog. From there, I decided to start my own blog, more for me than anything else. I was trying to journal the pain away, and it wasn’t working. I knew I needed more but just wasn’t sure what that was. Or I wanted … something more than mixing up my ink with my tears at the time. And what I’ve found? Support. Comfort. Strength. Relief. Fellowship. Most surprisingly of all, my blog has helped to find ME again. And most importantly of all, my blog has found me friendships. Friendships that I hope will last a lifetime.
And on to other wonderful news … I had a date last night. Ok, a phone date but still, a date nonetheless. With Chicago Man. He accompanied me via phone to the grocery store, where in typical QTMama fashion I was in an argument with the debit card machine which was telling me my card was not authorized. Ricardo the check out boy told me to use a different card. I told him that my card is FINE and it’s their system that has the glitch, which sure enough turned out to be true. Yet I still threatened Ricardo the check out boy that I’d be back if more than one charge shows up on my account. He told me to “bring it”. I stared at Ricardo for a moment and then smiled, and said “Oh, It will be brought check out boy, it will be brought!” And I had, of course, asked Chicago Man to hold on while I was threatening Ricardo, and when I came back on the line, he was there waiting for me, and laughing. Then it dawned on me … I’m a lucky girl - he reads this blog, knows more about me than most people (with a few exceptions thrown in), understands how a regular trip to the grocery store can turn into me threatening Ricardo the check out boy. Tell me, why has he not gone running for that previously mentioned deep, dark forest yet? *Sigh* And again, I digress …
So today, well today I have perma-grin. And a very giddy, happy feeling that I haven’t had in one helluva long time. And when it was time to hang up, I was stalling because I just didn’t want to get off the phone, and he asked me. He asked me if we could see each other again, said that he would really enjoy some face-to-face time. I don’t think the words finished getting out of his mouth before I was yelling “Uhhh YEAH!” and “YES” and any other positive response I could think of. So keep your fingers crossed for November people, because he’s going to try to get a day or two off. Just for me.

[...] 1. Yesterday, a co-worker walked into my office with a flower arrangement (Sunflowers!) that had been delivered for me. I am quite sure I looked at her like she was crazy when she said they were for me. I turned crimson. Turns out, QTMama had sent them in reference to this and that. The best part? The card. It said, “You are the best dude ever, my friend.” (Here is QTMama’s take on the flower giving.) [...]

Ahhh, remember our first comment on each other’s blog? It seems like such a long time ago…
I am very grateful for having met you, both online and in person. It’s funny how you can meet some people and know instantly that they ‘get it’ and something clicks and then …you’re friends. I dig it.
Thank you for the flowers. I AM THE BEST DUDE EVER, MAN.
xo,

Flowers for Random Esquire. You are pretty darn awesome, Ms. QTMama. I love a girl who can send a dude flowers… just because.
How freakin’ cool is the phone date?! I’ve done a phone date with my soldier a few times too. Ya do what you have to do, agree?
I’m happy that you and Chicago man are doing so well. You are a travelin’ fiend, aren’t you? But all for some wonderful men and girlfriends. You are indeed a lucky girl – you SHOULD be wearing a perma-grin!

Ooh, awesome kiss. And awesome flowers. I may pick up some for myself. Saw some great orange-ish sunflowers at the store the other day. Definitely cheery.
I laughed hard at your conversation with Ricardo.
