Dear Red Wine Gums … I’m Answering Your Question.

So I answered this question from Red Wine Gums – who, as you may or may not know, is from Ireland.  He has the accent.  And I, for one, consider the accent of his incredible.  It’s smooth, it’s sexy, and you can listen to it here.  Perhaps all the talk of my own Irishman’s accent sparked his thinking?  He asked in his own blog what is it about the Irish accent that people, oh hell, we all know he meant WOMEN, find so appealing?

So here is my answer for you RWG, in more detail.

Most often, I think people recognize the origin of the accent they are listening to and have preconceived ideas about that culture.  So rather than the sound being attractive or unattractive, it is the attitude towards the culture from which the accent originates that emits emotions one way or the other.  I hear you (and my own Irishman), I think of Ireland.  I’ve never been to Ireland, RWG.  It is my dream to make it there one day, but here are my preconceived notions of Ireland.  Green hills, local pubs, friendly people, soft rain that makes the earth smell sweet, small cars, castles, flowers on the hills, Guinness, dark haired people  … and the main thing my mind thinks of?

It’s called “chivalry”.  To treat a lady with the respect that they deserve. No foul language, doors are opened, an honor for your company.

And that my friend, is why I find your accent so incredible.  Smooches.

    Green Hills – Check
Local pubs – Check. Check. Check.
Friendly People – For the most part
Soft rain that makes the earth smell sweet – We get all types of rain. Soft is my favourite
Small Cars – Check. I have a small car! :-)
Castles – Check. I can take you to one that’s only 15 mins away in my small car but there are loads :-)
Flowers on the hills – Depends on the hill
    Guinness – Check
Dark Haired People – Check but not personally

Not sure how much chivalry is left in the world but it’s extremely important to me for a very personal reason that I always try and be a gentleman. It’s how I honour the memory of my grandfather who always stood up when a lady entered a room and always told me that I was the man of the house and it was my job to look after my brothers. But he was a bit of a rascal as well which is how he ended up with my grandmother (story for another day) so I suppose I’m more like him than I realise.

QTMama when you make it over here I would love the honour and privilege of being your escort for a day as I showed you my little country. It would not be a duty, for how can such an enjoyable experience ever be considered a duty

    Thanks for the smooches :-)

First time in your blog. I’m slowly starting to read all the posts, but I’m liking what I’ve read so far. Job well done! Had to comment on this post because of the comment from RWG.

I just fell in love with that guy: But then again that’s how I fell in love with my husband (british not irish).

Welcome Cheeky, and thank you! I hope that means you’ll be back. :)

    And yes, Red’s a keeper, isn’t he?

    Aw shucks

Thank you for the kind words ladies

Pffft, who’re you kidding? You just like Lucky Charms! *smile*

    Ha, ha, kidding…kidding…

So, why is it that this attraction only appears to be for the male Irishpeeps? I don’t recall ever being googly over an Irishwoman…really, I’m not even sure if I’ve met one now that I think about it.

I don’t think of women when I hear the accent or think of Ireland. I think of fantastic drinking traditions and joyous music and bar fights…oh yeah, and definitely green hills!

Good Lord you think like a boy. But it’s cute. *hugs*

Honestly, I just don’t get it. You women are *strange* with the accent thing.

Plush said to me the other day that an accent would be completely lost on me. However, if she spoke *cranky* to me, I’d be all aflame.

I admit. I like a little crankiness in my women.

And this is why something is wrong with me.
